Costs Also Rise In Canada 

 

Employers are paying more for health coverage up North as well as in the United States.

The overall Canadian health care trend -- including prescription drugs, medical plans, hospital coverage, and dental care – has increased about 15%, up from a 14% rate of increase in 2008, according to the Toronto office of Buck Consultants, a unit of Affiliated Computer Services Inc., Dallas.

The cost of medical coverage, excluding the cost of prescription drug coverage and other related products and services, has increased about 14%, up from a rate of increase of about 13% last year, Buck reports.
