Allianz Life Awards Grants 

A life insurer has distributed $300,000 in grants to 38 nonprofit groups that help people become more employable and manage their finances.

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Golden Valley, Minn., a unit of Allianz S.E., Munich, Germany, says the grants will range from $5,000 to $15,000.

Allianz also awarded $30,000 in academic scholarships to 10 area students through the 2009 Allianz Legacy Scholarship program. The program honors Allianz employees who have died. The program helps students with good grades and strong community service records.
