Stephen Piontek is editor-in-chief of National Underwriter's Life & Health/Financial Services edition. He is responsible for day-to-day news operations, including the assignment, editing and placement of stories and graphic support. He is also responsible for the Editorial and Op-Ed pages, and writes a monthly column, The Editor's Edge, which comments on industry trends and current events. Mr. Piontek came to the newsweekly in 1980 after five years in the advertising and publicity department of a major book publisher in New York. After a series of promotions, he was named Managing Editor in 1989 and five years later was promoted to Editor. During his years as a reporter he pioneered coverage of financial services and financial planning for National Underwriter. Mr. Piontek has appeared as a speaker at a number of industry meetings and conferences. Mr. Piontek graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College with a B.A. in English. In 1998, he completed the Professional Publishing Course at Stanford University. |

Jim Connolly is a Senior Editor of National Underwriter's Life & Health/Financial Services edition. Mr. Connolly covers regulatory issues as well as life reinsurance. In addition, he is lead writer for, and helps prepare, Income Planning, the retirement income planning e-newsletter published by NU. He came to National Underwriter in March 1988 and has covered financial, financial planning and mutual fund beats. Before joining the staff, Mr. Connolly worked for Fairchild Publications and WPIX-TV. He has written freelance articles for Greenwich Time, Newsday, Adweek and Northern Virginia Sun. Mr. Connolly earned his B.A. from Columbia University, his M.S. from Northwestern University, and his M.B.A. with specialty in finance and marketing from Fordham University. |

Linda Koco, MBA, CSA, is Senior Editor, Products, and Managing Editor, e-Publications, for National Underwriter Life & Health/Financial Services. She edits NU’s cutting edge e-newsletters — LTC e-Wire, Registered e-Report, and Income Planning — and also pens the closely-followed “Inside Products” column for NU. In addition, she edits numerous insurance product supplements for NU, writes product trends and news articles for NU, and files behind-the-scenes reports from leading insurance conferences. A frequent speaker on insurance and product trends, Ms. Koco has keynoted the annual meeting of National Association for Fixed Annuities and presented at numerous conferences including the Society of Actuaries Marketing Research Conference, National Association for Variable Annuities, the LIMRA Managed HealthCare Marketing Conference, and the Cincinnati Chapter of CLU. She has served two terms on The National Underwriter Company’s Board of Directors; has earned the Certified Senior Advisor designation; and holds an a MBA in e-business from University of Phoenix and a B.A. from Lake Forest College, both earned with high distinction. |

Ara C. Trembly is the Senior Editor, Technology, of National Underwriter and has been a writer, marketing professional and public speaker on technology for business since 1982. He has written for a wide range of business and technology publications, including Computer Decisions, Beyond Computing, PC Today, Office Systems and many more. He has spoken before the Business Technology Association, ASCnet, the AMS User Group, ACORD and the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association, among others. Most recently, he delivered a double session on Cutting Edge Technologies for the 21st Century at the ASCnet annual conference in Las Vegas. He has also given keynote addresses at the Fiserv Client Conference and at the Wisconsin IASA Annual Meeting. He is currently the technology editor and a regular columnist for both the P&C and Life/Health Editions of National Underwriter. |

Allison Bell is Associate Editor of National Underwriter's Life & Health/Financial Services edition. Ms. Bell handles the health insurance and disability insurance beats, edits the Employee Benefits Report, and is Web Editor for the online National Underwriter L&H Daily News. She joined National Underwriter in 1996, became assistant editor in 1999, and was promoted to her current position in 2004. Previously, she covered the New England technology beat for Mass High Tech, a biweekly business newspaper in Watertown, Mass.; the citrus industry and the general aviation industry for The Press Journal, a daily newspaper in Vero Beach, Fla.; and banking and insurance for The Business Journal of Charlotte, a weekly business newspaper in Charlotte, N.C. She has a B.A. in economics from Washington University, St. Louis. and a M.A. in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. |

His primary responsibilities include editing supplements in worksite insurance trends and banks-in-insurance. In addition, he is lead writer for, and helps prepare, LTC e-Wire, an e-newsletter for long term care insurance specialists published by NU. Mr. Thomas was promoted to his current position in 2004. Previously, he has served as associate editor of Business News New Jersey and has had senior writing and editing positions with Warren, Gorham & Lamont, the Research Institute of America, the National Institute of Business Management and the American Management Association. He has a B.A. in Communication Arts from Fordham University. |

Warren S. Hersch is Senior Editor, Advanced Markets and Sales for National Underwriter’s Life & Health, Financial Services edition, which he joined in 2004. He covers executive benefits, pre-retirement planning, small business planning, charitable giving and other advanced sales areas, and edits NU supplements on these topics. In addition, he is lead writer for, and helps prepare, Registered e-Report, an e-newsletter for registered financial advisors published by NU. Previously, Mr. Hersch served in various editorial capacities at Call Center Magazine, Teleconnect and Computer Reseller News (CRN), all publications of IT publishing house CMP Media. He also was an editor and analyst at Probe Research. Mr. Hersch has a B.A. in economics and history from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Steve Tuckey is an assistant editor for the Property-Casualty and Life & Health editions of National Underwriter, focusing on regulatory issues. Prior to joining NU, he was New York Editor of The Insurance Chronicle, a weekly newsletter covering the insurance industry. Before that, he was a reporter for the Coast Start in Manasquan, N.J. In California he worked on a number of newspapers in various capacities, including managing editor for The Record-Gazette, a daily near Palm Springs. He is also the co-author of Mogadishu! Heroism and Tragedy, the first book-length account of the attack on U.S. soldiers in Somalia in October of 1993. |
