Hartford Financial Services Inc. says it awarded about $7.3 million to nonprofit organizations in 2006.
Hartford Financial, Hartford, gave $2.7 million for national and international efforts and $4.6 million for efforts in and around Hartford.
The company gave $870,000 to 2 school-to-career programs: a program that provides internships for low-income Hartford high school students at Hartford Financial, and the Alliance for Academic Achievement, a program that provides college scholarships and summer employment for college students from Hartford.
